Pre-Registration for the 2020-2021 Season is Closed!

posted Jul 8, 2020, 8:20 PM by ASC Ayr Skating Club   [ updated Sep 8, 2020, 4:58 PM ]

Due to the current situation with Covid-19, we would normally be opening our fall program registration at about this time.  Unfortunately, we have to delay registration while we work through several new protocols and details with the Township of North Dumfries and Skate Canada to ensue we can welcome you back to the rink safely!

We are, however, opening a pre-registration at this time.  We encourage you to pre-register your skater using the link to the form below -- it is quick and easy, will help our club plan for the fall, and help reserve a spot for your skater in our programs (as we may be forced to limit available spots due to provincial and local directives).  Pre-registered skaters will be given first priority when we open our full program registration which we anticipate in early September

We have posted a draft fall schedule, available here:  Please note that this is a draft schedule and it may change once we get our confirmed ice times back from the Township.

Please only register once for each child!

Notice of AGM - Jun 11, 2020 @ 7:00pm via Google Meet (web conference)

posted Apr 19, 2020, 6:54 AM by ASC Ayr Skating Club   [ updated Jun 15, 2020, 5:50 AM ]

Each spring we hold our AGM (Annual General Meeting) where we take stock of the past year and confirm the volunteer board members for next season.  All skating parents, adult skaters, and coaches are welcome to participate in the meeting, and we encourage you to join us, as you will learn a lot about the club and how we run it!

Our club is a non-profit organization solely run by volunteers.  This allows the club to simply cover costs, and pass on low skating fees to the skaters, which we know families appreciate.  What this means, however, is that we need volunteers to maintain this approach!  We are always looking for more volunteers to help with the club activities and spread the work across many hands.  If you are interested in learning more about the role, please feel free to contact us at, or reach out to any of the current board members.  If you or someone you know would like to join our board, you can nominate here:  All nominations must be received by 21-May-2020.

During the AGM, we will do a summary of our registrations, a financial report, summary of our fundraising activities, coaches summary, communications update (website), along with a review of the year by our president.  We will do a formal vote for the board at this meeting.  The meeting generally lasts about 1 to 1.5 hours.

Please mark your calendars to attend the AGM - it will be Thursday, June 11th, 2020 at 7 pm.

Given the current circumstances with the Covid-19 pandemic, we will be conducting the AGM virtually using Google Meet.  Login/Phone In links are provided below.

Hope to "see" you there!  Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

Attached below is last years AGM minutes which will formally be accepted at this year's AGM.

Please note that the board is again proposing to pass an extraordinary resolution related to auditing/reviews of financial statements; the details for this are outlined in section 9.0 of the agenda.

No amendments to the club by-laws are proposed this year, you can view the club constitution here: History, Board, and Constitution (the club constitution document is at the very bottom of that page and the proposed changes are detailed in Appendix 1 of the document).

Our volunteer board of directors has continued to monitor the Covid-19 pandemic situation.  As an update to our previous announcement, we can now confirm that our Spring skating session is cancelled.

While we are all saddened by this news, the Ayr Skating Club must follow the direction of local health authorities, government agencies, Skate Canada, and the Township of North Dumfries.

Earlier today Skate Canada issued the following direction:
“Effective March 19, 2020, all Skate Canada sanctioned activities and programming are suspended until further notice.”

In addition, the Township of North Dumfries has announced:
"A business decision has been made to remove the ice at the NDCC and to cancel Spring Ice for the April/May 2020 time period."

Thank you for your understanding during this challenging time.

Be well, stay healthy and, hopefully, "see you at the rink" in September!

Over the last 48 hours our volunteer board of directors has been working with the Township of North Dumfries, monitoring Skate Canada's directives, monitoring local health authority advice, and monitoring other sports organization responses to the escalating Covid-19 pandemic.

This morning our board has decided to cancel all of our instructional programs effective immediately.  While we know this decision is disappointing (it is for us as well), we feel it is the responsible thing to do.

In addition, the Township issued the following advisory moments ago "All municipal-run indoor cultural/recreational facilities will be CLOSED to the public from March 16 to April 5, 2020.  This means that all programs and activities offered in our facilities will be cancelled from March 16 to April 5, 2020."

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this challenging and rapidly changing time.

Be well and stay healthy.

Spring 2020 Session Registration is OPEN!

Sat. 29-Feb. SKATING CANCELLED due to power outage

posted Feb 29, 2020, 7:17 AM by ASC Ayr Skating Club   [ updated Feb 29, 2020, 7:17 AM ]

There is currently a large power outage affecting Ayr and parts of Cambridge with the currently estimated resolution time of 2:00pm.

Because of this, we are unable to run our CanSkate program this morning; there is simply not enough light on the ice surface at the ACC to run our program safely.

Apologies for this inconvenience but we must make safety our first priority.  Should you wish to do a make up less on one of our Monday sessions, please just let us know.

Thanks and see you at the rink (just not today),
