Dear Parents/Guardians and Skaters:

Welcome all new and returning skaters and parents to the 2008-2009 skating season. As a board we are very excited to have the new season begin. We welcome back our coaches Hayley Orman, Joanne Ziegler, and Cayley MacArthur. We are also pleased to announce the addition of two new coaches; Beccy Magliarisi and Leanne Kelly. We would also like to welcome back our Professioanl Assistants (PA's) from last year and a few new faces. These skaters are essential to our skating program and we appreciate their dedication, enthusiasm and energy. 

We also want to remind everyone that it is NEVER TOO LATE TO SKATE. We accept new registrants at any time. Please see our website; www.ayrskatingclub.com for more information regarding registration or programs offered.

Custom Skating Dresses and Skirts – for anyone interested, Leanne Kelly also makes custom skating dresses and skirts. She has generously offered to make several black skating skirts, in various sizes, that skaters will be able to purchase at our club. Order early – skating outfits make great Christmas presents. Corporate Sponsorship - Every year we send out letters to our local businesses asking them to sponsor our Club with a donation. If you know someone who might be interested in supporting our Club please speak to a board member and get an official letter. Every little bit helps!

Skating Attire Sale - We are having a skating attire sale on Monday, September 29th from 4:30 – 8:30 pm. Please bring in any skating attire that you wish to sell. The items should be labeled with your name and the selling price. Please make arrangements to pick up any items that did not sell by 8:30pm on the 29th. Thank-you.

Volunteers are needed - to play the requested music during the Intermediate and Senior Sessions. It is helpful to both the skaters and the coaches if they do not have to continually leave the ice surface. Anyone who volunteers to do this will receive instruction from someone who has played the music in previous years. Please email a board member if you are interested. We have also notified the highschools as any students, in need of volunteer hours could also do this job.

Skater's Name Tags - there is now a number written on the skater's name tag to indicate what skating level they are in. These will be updated by the front desk when the skater moves to a new level.

File Folders – each skater has their own file folder which can be found in the front lobby from 4:30pm –7:00pm. Please check these weekly for any newsletters or other information provided by the club.

Early Bird Registration Draw - we are pleased to announce that the winner of the Early Bird Registration was The Hesselink Family. They won a $50.00 Gas Certificate from Danayr.

Additional Skating – Junior Starskate - just a reminder that skaters in canskate levels 5 or higher can skate for an additional session on Fridays from 4:15-5:15pm. Contact Marianne to register 519-632-8501

Oct. 31st - No Powerskating, but, Figure Skating lessons still going on

Nov. 7th - No Powerskating or Figure Skating lessons

Nov. 15th - Youth Fundraising Dance – Grades 4 – 8, 7:30 – 10:00 pm at Hillside Park

Nov. 24th - Theme Day: PJ Night and Teddy Bear Picnic – wear your pj's and bring your favourite teddy.

Dec. 5th - Last Skate for Powerskating Session #1

Dec. 12th - Powerskating Session #2 Begins

Dec. 15th - Family Skate with Santa

Dec. 19th - Jan. 2nd - No Skating – Christmas Holidays

 Jan. 5th - Skating Resumes

Jan. 26th - Theme Day: Beach Day – dress up in your best beach wear

Feb. 13th - No Power Skating or Figure Skating

Feb. 16th - Family Day – No skating lessons

Feb. 20th - Last Skate for Powerskating Session #2

Feb. 23rd - Theme Day: Crazy Head Day – do your hair or make your helmet crazy

Mar. 16th - 20th - March Break – condensed skating schedule provided at a future date
